Our Guides are exceptional teachers who between them cover every instrument and every musical genre. As musicians they have performed at venues including the Barbican, Buckingham Palace, the Royal Festival Hall, the O2 and the Montreux Jazz Festival; with Florence and The Machine, Paul McCartney, the London Symphony Orchestra and the BBC; and on Hollywood soundtracks and The X Factor. All our teaching is rigorously monitored to maintain the highest standards. All our Guides embrace the MusicMaps philosophy and are subject to robust security and vetting checks.
I am a guitar teacher, double bass player and Managing Director of MusicMaps alongside Ash. I am a father, husband and sporadic creator of art.
I set up MusicMaps with Al and now work with our team to get the best teachers to our clients. I'm a pianist, but I do like to dabble in a bit of trumpet and double-bass.
Briana (People and Mentor Teams)
I work in the People and Mentor teams at MusicMaps, helping to find the best Guides and making sure all our Travellers are getting the most out of their music making. I like to sing, write songs, bake chocolate cookies and go out to see live music.
Zeshaan (Finance and Systems Team)
I work in the Finance and Systems Team. I am a singer/songwriter and producer, and I also love a bit of fashion.
Yusuf (Start Team)
I work in the Start Team, organising music lessons for our Travellers. I am also a musician, teacher and drummer playing in many different styles and areas from afro-funk to theatre.
Chara (Start Team)
I work in the MusicMaps Start Team, alongside Yusuf, setting up the lessons for our Travellers. I am a guitarist and a teacher, who loves cooking and swimming.
Alba (Mentor Team)
I work as a Class Teaching and Early Years Mentor at MusicMaps, helping our Guides to deliver high quality music lessons in schools. I am also a pianist and I love playing the guitar and ukulele. I love musicals and rock 'n' roll!
Colette (Mentor Team)
I'm a MusicMaps Steward and work within the Start Team stewarding at our Saturday School in Hammersmith. I'm a recorder player, and have a particular interest in Medieval and Renaissance music.
Ash Charles’ and Al Mobbs’ love of music is only equal to their love of teaching. Ash trained at Westminster Abbey Choir School, Junior Guildhall of Music, Cambridge University, and the Moscow Conservatoire. Today he is the Director of Music at Bute House and works with many schools in the West London area. Al is a prize-winning graduate of the Royal College of Music and has taught at the top UK school, St. Paul’s Girls’ School for the last fourteen years. He has performed with many international artists including Damon Albarn and Gorillaz and arranged and produced for the likes of Sony and Warner. They have run record labels, sat on the boards of the Association of Independent Music and UK Music, have toured the world and even promoted gigs at the Royal Albert Hall and Shepherd’s Bush Empire. They are, of course, MusicMaps’ two founder Mentors.
